Michigan Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice

The Michigan Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice Provides

  • Free Counseling for Unintended Pregnancy and Post-Pregnancy
Our specially trained counselors are clergy and people of faith. Persons of no particular religious faith are equally welcome to receive our services.

  • An All Options Approach
Our counselors will not burden you with moral judgments about your pregnancy or choices. The counselor will listen to your needs and concerns, will help you explore all possible choices, and will honor your decision. We want to offer you an opportunity for candid dialogue about your experience and provide the support you need to move forward in a healthy way.

  • Confidentiality
Religious counselors have a spiritual and professional obligation for confidentiality. Our counselors will respect your personal privacy.

  • Contact a Clergy Counselor
Speak to a counselor at a Planned Parenthood clinic and ask for a Clergy counselor.

Members of the Michigan Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice believe . . .

  • That a compassionate and wise God is very much present in times of pain, loss, and difficult decisions.

  • That every woman has the right to decide whether and when to bear a child.

  • That a woman with an unintended pregnancy should be fully informed about all her options: parenthood, adoption, and abortion.

  • That a women’s reproductive life should not be subject to pressure or interference from the government or from other persons.

  • That religious communities must respond to the physical, emotional, psychological, relational, and spiritual needs resulting from unwanted pregnancies.

We support . . .

  • A woman’s personal and spiritual freedom to make a choice that is consistent with her religious and ethical beliefs.

  • A woman’s ability to make thoughtful, healthy, moral decisions.

  • The need for free and confidential counseling.

  • We are committed to an educated society in which people make reproductive choices freely and according to conscience and faith.

Share Your Concerns

You don’t have to face this decision alone. We provide a safe place to explore your current feelings and your hopes for the future. Clergy are available for confidential counseling by telephone, e-mail, or in-person session.

If You Need Medical Services

Our clergy can refer you to a reliable clinic.

Caution!

Beware of counseling centers that advertise free pregnancy testing and “help” for problem pregnancies. They are often run by anti-abortion interests that want to manipulate you into their decision rather than supporting you in choosing what is right for you.

Who We Are

The Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice is comprised of more than 40 Protestant, Jewish, Catholic, Unitarian-Universalist and other religious organizations committed to maintaining the 1973 Supreme Court decision which made abortion a legal medical procedure.

Coalition members hold varying views on when abortion is morally justified, but all agree that a woman must have the right to make such decisions based upon her own conscience and religious beliefs in accordance with responsible medical practices.

The Michigan Religious Coalition provides All Options Clergy Counseling throughout the State of Michigan.
