It's About Time...
For 37 years we have heard religiuos extremists say abortion is morally wrong. It's time to reassurem people that it's morally right to be pro-choice and religous. It's time to remind people that clergy worked to lealize abortion becasue they saw the desperation of woman with intended pregnances. It's time to protect religious liberty especially in very personal issues of reproductive health. It's time to raise our religious voice and defend reproductive choice!

Nelson-Hatch defeated
The Senate voted on Dec. 8 to table - and therefore defeat - the onerous Nelson-Hatch Amendment to the health care reform bill. The work of religious advocates was key to this success. To our friends and supporters: thank you for your letters, emails, phone calls, visits and prayers. You impacted this effort by amplifying a faithful voice in favor of women and church/state separation.

The Nelson-Hatch amendment, which mirrored the Stupak-Pitts language approved by the House of Representatives, would have expanded abortion restrictions and trampled on the rights of those who believe that abortion is a moral option.

The Stupak-Pitts Amendment adopted as part of the House Health Care Reform Bill would drastically reduce access to abortion services especially for low income women.

SB 147 (HB 4212) introduced in MI Senate to ban some abortion procedures. Once again, the extremists have introduced a bill they say bans certain late-term abortion procedures. However, the language is so broad, it could apply to procedures used in the second trimester. Late term abortions occur in wanted pregnancies where something has gone wrong. Politicians should let doctors practice medicine and let women make the difficult moral decisions that are best for her and her family. Click for entire bill.
